Apple’s products such as the Mac and iPad have already adopted the USB-C and it’s time the iPhone also gets support for USB-C in the near future. It’s good to see the USB-C port on the bottom of the device for charging. On the left side, towards the edge, you will see the power button next to the LED indicator to reveal the charger level. The design is subtle with the understated Belkin logo. As you can see in the hands-on images, the aesthetic is minimalist as could be. The device comes with rounded edging and has a matte exterior. Because it’s exactly the same size as my wallet, the power bank fits in my pocket. It’s compact and light, and is slightly thicker than the iPhone 14. I attached a fully charged MagSafe Battery Pack to each iPhone 12 version, all of which had an empty battery. I tested it with several models of the iPhone 12 family. As a proud iPhone 12 Mini owner, it gives me that extra push to make it through a full day instead of needing to charge it in the late afternoon. My biggest criticism is that I wished it had been available when the iPhone 12 launched. Apple does add a neat bit of iOS integration, like the ability to monitor how much battery charge the MagSafe Battery Pack has from the iOS battery widget. That's double the price of other magnetic battery packs from third-party companies like Anker and Mophie. The MagSafe Battery Pack costs $99 (£99, AU$139). Apple took Qi wireless charging, which is used by current iPhone models and most Android phones, and added magnets. When the iPhone 12 launched in October, MagSafe charging was the most surprising and curious addition. Last week, Apple released the MagSafe Battery Pack which, next to the MagSafe wallet, is one of my favorite accessories for the iPhone 12 family.
